This week is to focus on Loving Kindness
Describe your experience. Did you find it beneficial? Difficult? Why or why not? Would you recommend this to others? Why or why not?
The experience was overall relaxing!!! To have time away from what is going on around is the best thing ever, I must admit it's like hitting the pause key, and just focusing on self. I found this activity to be beneficial since it was easy for me to focus on myself without letting any kind of distraction disturb me. I would certainly recommend this to anyone who needs time around from real life.
What is the concept of "mental workout"? What does the research indicate are the proven benefits of a mental workout? How can you implement mental workouts to foster your psychological health?
The concept of mental workout empower what our minds are capable, the mind is both powerful, and important for our well being. The research opens our minds and hearts to others, which in turn gradually diminishes self-centeredness, preparing our minds for further development (Dacher, 2006). I can image setting time for yourself in a nice quiet place can aid to optimal mental workouts.
Hi Channell,
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your experiences with the loving-kindness activity. I am glad to see that it worked out so well for you as it does seem to offer a sense of tranquility away from distractions.
Keep up the great work!
Mark
Wow, that is great that the exercise was so relaxing to you. We all having different personalities and what works for on person is not necessarily right for the next. You seemed to take away a lot away from the loving-kindness exercise.
ReplyDeleteDo you need complete silence to practice the mental workout of can you perform them anywhere you like? Thanks for sharing. Best wishes and be well.
Danny
Hi Channell,
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing. I had a hard time with loving kindness. As I am generally a compassionate, loving, caring person, I am still having a hard time with feeling those emotions and true caring for someone who has wronged me to the nth degree. I am really trying to get past this and break through. I like your idea about sitting somewhere where there are no interruptions. Just to be able to focus on myself and what I am trying to do. I think I will try to find a real comfortable spot outside (we have a great yard, maybe under a tree and see if I can sit on a big (favorite) blanket and try again. This time with no noise, no dog, no cat, no hubby to disrupt me. Until I get to the point where I can tune out automatically.
